About BITS Pilani Campuses

Pilani Campus

Pilani CampusBITS Pilani, Pilani Campus is located in the Vidya Vihar campus adjacent to Pilani town in Jhunjhunu district, in Rajasthan, India. Pilani has a population of about 50,000. It is about 200 km west of New Delhi and about 220 km north of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Covered with wooded paths and spread over 328 acres, the campus is self-contained and houses all the amenities and buildings that befit an institute of international standards. The campus is fully residential with 11 hostels for boys and one hostel complex for girls. Around 4500 students live on campus along with 350 faculty members, their family and a vast pool of support staff.

Dubai Campus

BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus is the international campus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India and is located at the Dubai International Academic City. Set up in the year 2000, it is among the pioneer institutions in Dubai, and exclusively dedicated to offering quality engineering and technology education. It attracts a diverse student population from UAE, other GCC countries, Asia, Africa and Far East. Hostels accommodation are provided to students within the campus with furnished, air-conditioned single rooms for boys and girls. Additional facilities such as Mess, Gymnasium, Supermarket and a Clinic are available on the campus. Excellent indoor and outdoor sports facilities are provided for overall development of the students.

K K Birla Goa Campus

The idyllic and sylvan beauty of Goa sets the right ambience for BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. Nestling in the lap of verdant hills, overlooking the Zuari River, the campus is spread over an area of 180 acres. The location of Campus is unique in the respect of scenic beauty and panoramic view of picturesque surrounding encompassing the river Zuari, hillocks, waterways, forests and landscape. The Campus is about 25 kms south of Panaji (capital of Goa), 10 kms east of Vasco-da-Gama, 22 kms north of Madgaon along National Highway 17B. The campus is approx. 4.5 kms from the Goa Dabolim airport and around 60 kms from Manohar International Airport, Mopa- Goa. The campus houses the main building, having academic and administrative offices, Visitor's Guest house, separate hostels for boys & girls, student activity centre (with indoor games, gymnasium), playgrounds (football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, tennis court), faculty & staff quarters, medical centre, bank and shopping complex.

Hyderabad Campus

BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus is spread over a lush-green area of over 200 acres. Surrounded by natural beauty, the campus is about 70 kms from the Rajiv Gandhi international airport and 27 kms from the cosmopolitan city, Hyderabad. Spacious labs, well-furnished and air-conditioned classrooms, technology-enabled lecture theatres and network infrastructure, all come together to make BITS Pilani, Hyderabad an extremely well-equipped campus. Apart from the academic block containing classrooms, laboratories, computer terminal rooms and the library, the campus houses separate hostels for boys and girls, a Student Activity Centre (SAC), residential quarters for faculty and staff, a medical centre, shopping complex, football ground, cricket ground, basketball, volley ball and tennis courts and playgrounds for children.

Mumbai Campus

The Interim campus of BITS School of Management (BITSoM) is at Hiranandani Knowledge Park, in the green and spacious neighbourhood of Powai, Mumbai. Spread over 50,000 square feet, it accommodates spacious classrooms and libraries, digital lab, breakout rooms and multipurpose spaces as well as a café and wellness centre.

About Discovering India Programme

The two-week Discovering India Programme for international students offered by BITS Pilani with a focus on Rajasthan, Goa, Mumbai, and Hyderabad offers international students a unique opportunity to explore the diverse cultural, historical, and academic landscapes of these regions. The program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of India's rich heritage, vibrant traditions, and academic excellence. India is a land of diverse cultures, languages, traditions, and landscapes. The Study India Programme embraces this diversity, providing participants with the chance to fully immerse themselves in the country's rich heritage. Through cultural excursions and interactions with local communities, students gain a deep understanding and appreciation for India's heritage and values.

During the two-week programme, participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions and lectures delivered by BITS Pilani faculty members and resource person. These sessions will provide insights into various aspects of Indian history, arts, literature and philosophy. Students will also have the chance to engage in discussions and debates with fellow participants, fostering intellectual growth and cross-cultural exchange.

About Discovering Dubai Programme

The Discover Dubai Programme for international students offered by BITS Pilani will provide a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant city of Dubai. The programme aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience of Dubai's rich heritage and rapid development of economy, making it an ideal destination for exploration.

The Study Dubai Programme incorporates immersive experiences that allow participants to discover the city's traditions, history, and modern innovations. From visiting iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa to exploring Dubai Safari and attending cultural festivals, participants will gain a deep learning for the local culture.

Program Overview & Highlights

  • Orientation: Upon arrival in India/ Dubai, participants will attend a small orientation session that will introduce them to the local customs, safety guidelines and program expectations by BITS Pilani Faculty.

 

  • Lectures: The program offers a range of interdisciplinary lectures that explore various aspects of India’s / Dubai’s culture, history, and society. Taught by experienced faculty members and expert guest speakers, including renowned resource person, will deliver lectures and engage in interactive sessions with the participants. These sessions will provide unique insights and diverse perspectives on India’s / Dubai’s social, political, and cultural landscape. Participants will engage in discussions and group activities to enhance their learning experience.

 

  • Cultural Immersion: To enhance cultural understanding, participants of Study India Programme will have numerous opportunities to immerse themselves in the vibrant Indian culture. This includes visits to historical landmarks, museums, temples, and other significant sites.  The Study Dubai Programme will allow participants to discover the city's traditions, history, and modern innovations. From visiting iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa to exploring traditional Souq and attending cultural festivals, participants will gain a deep appreciation for the local culture. Participants will also have interactions with local communities, where they can experience Indian/ Dubai’s traditions, cuisine and artistic expressions.

 

  • Field Trips: Guided field trips to renowned places such as At Pilani: Birla Haveli and Temple, Khetri Fort, Mandawa Fort and Resort, Shekhwati Art House. At Dubai: Dubai Museum, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Spice Souq and Gold Souq / Global Village, Museum of Future, Dubai Safari with Local Dance & Music, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. At Goa: Spice Plantation, Goan Churches & Temples, Feni Museum Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Goa Chitra Museum. At Hyderabad: Charminar, Chowmhalla Palace and the Pearl Market, Ramoji Film City, Osman Sagar Lake, Metro trip to Hi-Tech City. At Mumbai: Sula Vineyards, Horniman Circle and the Dalal Street, Reserve Bank of India, CSMT Heritage Museum & MCGM Headquarters, National Museum of Indian Cinema & Maratha Mandir at Mumbai. The field trips will provide participants a glimpse into the historical, cultural, and artistic heritage of different regions of India / Dubai.
  • Language and Cultural Workshops: Participants will have the opportunity to learn basic conversational phrases in Arabic /Hindi and other regional languages. Cultural workshops will focus on activities such as traditional dance, music, and art forms, providing hands-on experiences of India and Dubai’s rich heritage.

 

  • Evaluation and Credit transfer: Through this program, participants will have, group discussions, and presentations to deepen their understanding of the topics covered. A participant will be awarded 3 units = 2 hours Lecture everyday x 10 days and 3 hours field visit every day x 10 days with an option to get the credits transferred to home institute.

 

  • Student Support: The IPCD office at respective campuses will be available to assist throughout the 2-week programme right from the arrival to the departure of the participants. Letter of Invitation towards applying for a VISA for attending the programme will be provided to the participants.

 

  • Program Conclusion: The program will conclude at the end of 2nd week with a closing ceremony where participants will showcase their learnings and experiences. Participants will depart with lifelong memories and knowledge gained during the two weeks of Study India / Study Dubai Programme.

1How do I know if I am eligible for the programme?
Under graduate/ graduate foreign national students (Citizens of a country other than India) of any background such as Engineering, Science, Arts, Commerce, Management etc. are eligible to apply.
2What is included in the participation fees?
Participation fees include administrative fees, on campus hostel stay, daily meals (breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, Dinner), classroom utilization, programme kit/ stationery (if any), transportation charges during the field trips.
3What is excluded from the participation fees?
VISA Charges, to & fro flight ticket charges, to & fro airport transfers to respective campuses
4How will I get an Indian or UAE VISA for participation?
International Programmes & Collaboration Division (IPCD) of respective BITS Pilani campuses will provide Letter of Invitation to selected participants towards applying for a VISA for attending the 2-week Discovering India India / Dubai programme.
5Where are the BITS Pilani campuses located?

6Where will I be staying during the programme?
Student Housing will be allotted in an on-campus hostel, separate for Boys & Girls, Single occupancy room per participant with bed, mattress and linens included. All hostels are Wi-Fi enabled. Common washroom & bathroom facility.
7What are the food arrangements and where will I be having my daily meals?
Daily Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner will be arranged at respective Campus Guest House.
8Is Wi-Fi / internet facility available on campus?
All BITS Pilani campuses are fully Wi-Fi enabled. Participants will be provided with login details to access the campus internet
9What is the Indian/UAE currency and where can I get it?
Indian currency is called Rupee (INR) and Dubai’s currency is Dirham. You can either carry the local currency from your home country or convert your currency at the airport or at money exchange office.
10What other facilities are available on Campus?
All campuses of BITS Pilani have facilities such as 24/7 Medical Centre, shopping centres, food outlets, on campus bank, ATM, fully equipped gymnasium and playgrounds (football, cricket, basketball, volleyball and tennis court).
