MoU on Collaborative Research between BITS Pilani and Project Management Unit, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Goa

The MoU was signed by Prof. Meenal Kowshik – Dean Administration, BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus and Dr. Vijay Borges – Project Director – PMU, Coding & Robotics Education in Schools (CARES) Scheme, DTE, Govt. of Goa in august presence of Hon. Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant; Hon. Minister for WRD, Shri. Subhash Shirodkar; Secretary Education, Shri. Prasad Lolyekar; Dr. Vivek Kamat, Director, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) on behalf of the government and Prof. Shibu Clement, Associate Dean, Grants, Consultancy, and Industrial Research; Dr. Kunal Korgaonkar, Faculty, Dept. of Computer Science and Information Systems; Mr. Sailesh Narayan Mohanty, Joint Registrar on behalf of BITS Pilani.

 

Activities under the MOU:

  • Research and collaboration towards effective introduction of computational thinking principles and practice in school education following the National Education Policy (NEP).
  • Design of curriculum and labs for the scheme, and through it, inculcating interdisciplinary STREAM based thinking early on in school education
  • Longitudinal studies on the impact of education on students' performance in academics and skill set development as they transition to higher education and/or employment. Incorporating the feedback from longitudinal studies back into the curriculum.
  • The government will fund internships for students at higher educational institutes of importance in Goa such as BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. These student Interns will work on collaborative projects, on thematic area's co-proposed, for curriculum, pedagogy and educational technologies research and development.
  • The MOU will enable CARES and BITS Pilani to work together with various partner universities in India and abroad with a focus on educational research and development, student and research exchange programs, co-developed and viable educational technology development, usages and transfers
  • Special track and training for elective curriculum school students of CARES at various competitions such as Quark or other CT/DT competitions, 'A day in the lab' program, creating grass-root championship in STEAM, etc.
