About BITS Pilani, Goa Campus
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani is a private deemed to be university established under sec 3 of UGC in 1964. It has 5 campuses located in Pilani, Goa, Dubai, Hyderabad and Mumbai. It is declared an Institute of eminence by Min. of Education GOI in 2018. BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus was established in 2004. It has 10 departments. The total faculty strength is 200+, and 360+ PhD students are pursuing their research. The campus has grown significantly in Sponsored research with 120+ ongoing projects. The campus has received funding from various national and international agencies from Govt and Industry. Departments have received FIST support from DST. The campus has also been funded under DBT BUILDER scheme, a BIRAC supported BioNEST incubator and BITS BioCyTiH Foundation (a technology innovation hub under NMICPS- DST). The Institute is committed to generating, disseminating, and preserving knowledge, and to working with others to bring this knowledge to bear on the world's great challenges. BITS is dedicated to providing its students with an education that combines rigorous academic study and the excitement of discovery with the support and intellectual stimulation of a diverse campus community.
About Nano Jatha
At nanoscale, matter behaves differently, depending sensitively on the size and shape. The contribution of nanoscience and technology is in every conceivable field: Agriculture, Industries, Technology, Electronics, Communications, Healthcare, Space explorations, Energy, Material Sciences, and Environment, to name a few.
The Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Govt. of Karnataka has been organizing since 2007 an annual international nano event, well known as Bengaluru India Nano, under the guidance of Vision Group on Nanotechnology headed by Prof. C N R Rao, FRS, Linus Pauling Research Professor and Honorary President, JNCASR. The 13 th Edition of the Bengaluru India Nano event is scheduled during 1-3 August 2024 in Bengaluru. As a curtain raiser towards the main event, Nano Jathas are being planned in select places to create awareness about nanoscience and technology in general, and also to provide wide publicity to Bengaluru India Nano.
To showcase the current knowledge in nanoscience and technology, and to disseminate information about Bengaluru India Nano, Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS) is organizing in different parts of the country Nano Jathas - special events comprising lectures by expert scientists in the field, video shows, interactive sessions with the audience and exhibition that has several live demonstrations illustrating the topic.
