In today’s business environment, the role of digitalization is mandatory in product design, development and support. It facilitates validation of product design, realisation process & maintenance strategies in virtual environment much ahead of manufacturing. Digitalization has become essential for managing the ever-increasing product complexity, diversity, built-in quality and achieving first time right in new product development. In digital product development ecosystem, Modeling, Simulation and Synthesis are dovetailed into a collaborative Product Lifecycle Modeling (PLM) framework for seamless connectivity and visibility to all the stakeholders. The Product Lifecycle Modeling, Simulation and Synthesis (PLMSS) International Conference aims to provide a platform for fruitful deliberations and sharing of knowledge/experiences in new technologies/processes pertaining to this domain as well as challenges and solutions among diverse players from academia, industry and R&D organisations.
The current edition of PLMSS conference, 10th in the series is being conducted at BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus under the aegis of PLMSS Trust. Previous nine editions of the conference were successfully hosted by ADA & IISc Bengaluru (2006), NAL Bengaluru (2008), PSG Tech Coimbatore (2011), VIT Vellore (2013), ASL/DRDO & BITS Hyderabad (2015), DIAT Pune (2017), CABS/DRDO & IISc Bengaluru (2019), VSSC/ISRO & IIST Trivandrum (2021) and ADA & IISc Bengaluru (2023).
ABOUT BITS PILANI
Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani, is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary aim of BITS is to "train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques, and information". ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Started in 1946, Mechanical Engineering Degree Program is one of the oldest at BITS Pilani, Pilani campus. The department is vibrant with several activities round the year. It is a DST-FIST sponsored (2002-2007) and UGC-SAP sponsored (2007-2012) department. We have a research focus that benefits industry, society and the environment. The department offers two Integrated First Degree Programs and three Higher Degree Programs on campus apart from Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP) under continued education scheme. The curricula are highly demanding and attract exceptionally meritorious students from all over India. Research emphasis is there in all tires of education, First Degree, Higher Degree and Ph.D. Students look for challenging careers in the best of the organisations within India and abroad. There is huge potential in the department for Consultancy as well as Technology and Product incubation. The department takes pride in the achievements of its alumni, who have shined in various walks of life.
ABOUT PLMSS TRUST
PLMSS Trust was registered in December 2014 at Bengaluru by the Heads of DRDO, ADA, NAL & IISc in order to take up research, aid, promote, guide, manage, coordinate, execute and disseminate activities in the different areas such as CAD, CAM, CAE, PLM, ERP and other related topics in Aerospace, Automobile, High-Tech and concerned industries. One of the prime activities is to facilitate and initiate the organization of the International Conference PLMSS. The Trust has also been organising special lectures and workshops on its foundation day.
THEME AND CORE AREAS
“Digital Twin and Circular Economy for a Greener Future” is the theme of PLMSS 2025. The focus of this edition of PLMSS is the sustainability and environmental consciousness from product conceptualization to recycling.
