More than 100 teams all over India participated in Pravega’s IBM Hackathon. The problem statement of this hackathon was – “Binary Classification of News”. With two initial rounds of screening that involved codes on Data Mining, only 10 teams made it to the finals. The finals was conducted at IISc Bangalore on 18thJanuary 2019. We are proud to announce thatShrey AgarwalandRaghav Raman Garg– first year students of BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus secured thefirst placein theleast error/most accuratecode section of the event.

With the least time complexity and maximum accuracy rate their code involved the use of Machine Learning blended with NLP and neural networks which served it’s purpose of classifying news articles into fake or real. Their use of IBM’s API was also widely appreciated. We wish them great success in the future!
