Kajal Kansal is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, UAE. Previously, she was a Post Doctoral researcher in the School of Computing (SoC), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore from 2021-2024. NUS is one the top-most university in Asia and one of the World's top universities. During her time there, she collaborated with Prof. Mohan Kankanhalli (Provost Chair, SoC) at the N-CRiPT Lab and NEC Laboratories. She completed her doctoral study from IIIT-Delhi in 2020. From 2019 to 2020, she served as a Research Intern with the National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo, Japan.Additionally, she earned her M.Tech. from IIIT-Delhi in 2018.
She specializes in Artificial Intelligence, focusing on areas such as Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing. Her research interests encompass Multimedia Content Analysis, Person Re-identification, Privacy and Risk Management, and Adversarial Machine Learning.
She has authored numerous scientific articles and also serving as a reviewer for various journals, including IEEE Transactions, international conferences and journal. Kajal was awarded the Visvesvaraya Research Fellowship and is a member of IEEE. In 2020, she received the InSc Young Researcher Award and has also won several travel grants to present her research at international events. In 2024, she was honored with the Professional Women Achiever Award at the Women of Substance Conference.
