Dr. Harpreet Singh Bedi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at BITS Pilani Dubai campus, UAE. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Technical University (2010) and Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (2014), respectively. In 2020, he obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, focusing on carbon nanotubes' role in enhancing the mechanical properties of composite materials. Dr. Bedi has made significant contributions to the field, with publications in esteemed international journals such as Carbon, Polymer Composites, Engineering Fracture Mechanics, Materials Chemistry and Physics etc. His research encompasses topics like reinforced polymer composites, interfacial behavior, additive manufacturing, finite element simulations, vibration damping etc.
Additionally, Dr. Bedi brings valuable practical experience from his tenure at the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), DRDO, India, where he served as a Research Associate from 2020 to 2022. During his time at ADE, he worked on designing and optimization of structural members of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
He has extensive hands-on experience in synthesis and characterization of carbon nanomaterials, polymer nanocomposites and laminate composites. Expertise in mechanical testing and analysis of advanced composites for structural applications. Experience in finite element modeling and damage analysis. Experience with handling advanced characterization tools e.g. SEM, TEM, TGA, DSC, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR etc.
Dr. Bedi is also a dedicated educator, teaching subjects such as Vibrations, Composites, Advanced Manufacturing Processes, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning etc. As an Assistant Professor, he continues to inspire the next generation of engineers while advancing knowledge in mechanical engineering and materials science.
