PMP - A Students’ Initiative
Every aspirant who clears BITSAT and chooses BITS Goa to spend their 4 or 5 years in this beautiful campus comes with a dream and a plan. Some students make their own way, but others need someone to help them during their early college days with some of their basic problems during the first month if not the entire semester. Peer Mentorship Program aims to provide every student a mentor who would help them in the same.
What is Peer Mentoring?
Starting college can be an overwhelming experience. From learning simpler things like finding your way around, or where to go for help; to discovering ways to balance classwork, home, job and figuring out which student organisations or experiences to be a part of; or, even choosing a major – it’s a big adjustment! It is a lot to learn, plan and keep track of!
To alleviate much of the confusion when transitioning to college, the Peer Mentoring Program at BITS Goa helps new students adjust to the college environment, make connections on campus and feel empowered to chart their own course to success. The program matches old students with new students, connecting them as partners for a semester-long experience.
Program Overview
The Peer Mentor Program, simply put, aims to let existing students help new students in a purposeful way. Current students who are looking for an empowering interpersonal leadership experience and want to help their juniors in the process are encouraged to apply to become Mentors. BITS Goa’s Peer Mentors are committed to sharing their own experiences to motivate others, help them grow, set goals and become successful.
