Associate Professor
Dr. Ranjit S Patil did PhD (Energy) at IIT Guwahati and worked on Circulating Fluidized Bed Heat Exchangers. Further he worked as Post Doctoral fellow researcher at ENEA Nuclear Research Centre Italy. He did research in the area of Energy & Process Heat Transfer in Two Phase Flow domain of Microtubes at ENEA. During the tenure of research work related to ENEA Italy, he has visited to France (Paris), Austria, Hungary, Switzerland. Prior PhD he did ME in Mechanical Engineering (Government College of Engineering Karad, affiliated to Shivaji University) with specialization in Heat & Power Engineering (IC Engines group) and gained a research experience through project on Energy Conservation in Indian Cement Industries at National Chemical Laboratory - CSIR Lab Pune in collaboration with B. K. Birla Group of Companies - Vasavadatta Cement Plant. He received MHRD fellowship (2004-2010) during full time ME and PhD program. He did BE at Dr. BAMU Aurangabad university with an excellent academic record and as an university ranker. Since last 23 years (including the 3 years of experience gained at state Government's sponsored Walchand College of Engineering Sangli 2001-2004), he is working in the field of Fluid and Thermal Engineering for research and teaching since last 23 years.
After completing PDF at ENEA Italy, in December 2011, he joined to Department of Mechanical engineering and at present he is working as an Associate Professor at BITS Pilani - K K Birla Goa campus, Goa. He has actively worked at various administrative tasks at BITS Pilani - K K Birla Goa campus, Goa. He has developed research laboratories on CFB Boilers, I C Engines, Microchanel and Nano-fluid, Solar energy through the funds received from SERB-DST and BITS. Five doctoral students completed PhD under his guidance. He has published papers in well known - reputed International conferences held at IITs, IISc Bangalore, attended conferences held at abroad - at Imperial College London UK, Bangkok Thiland, Krakow Poland, USA, Seoul South Korea, Dubai -UAE, Cairo & Luxor - Egypt, Spain etc. Based on his research credentials, he received competitive travel support from DST, CCSTDS (former CICS Chennai) etc to attend the international conferences. He has published his research work in the reputed Book chapters, and Journals published by Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, ASME, IMechE, Springer, Physics of Fluids etc. Also he has worked as a reviewer for the research papers submitted at many reputed journals & conferences, and also worked as reviewer for research proposals submitted at UGC, IITs; and PhD thesis reviewer for various universities. He is recipient of INSA Visiting Scientist Fellowship award (2014-15) by Government of India and worked as visiting Scientist in summer 2014 at IIT Guwahati. He is also recipient of OPERA (Outstanding Potential for Excellence in Research and Academics) Award (2014-19) by BITS Pilani for his excellence in Teaching and Research.
