Professor
The Renewable Energy Systems Group consists of core members drawn from Departments on Campus as well as students, from our Institute as well as students from external colleges/Institutions selected for participation under various outreach programs of the Institute. Presently, the core faculty members are Dr. M. K. Deshmukh, Professor Department of EEE, Dr. S. D. Manjare, Professor and Head of Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Chandradew Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Physics. The core faculty members conduct formal and informal Projects, First Degree Thesis, for the students of the Institute as well as students from external Colleges/Institutions selected for participation in various outreach programs of the Institute. The core faculty members invite other members of faculty from Departments on Campus for new project development, etc. Interested members of faculty and students should contact any of the core members for future association.
The core faculty has set up the Renewable Energy Systems Laboratory @ the Power Control Centre-1, situated on an open land behind Computer Centre on Campus for catering to educational and research needs of students, research scholars pursuing studies in the broad areas of Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Electrical Power Utilization and Optimization, Simulation and Modeling, vocational training and skill development for future renewable energy developmental projects.
The core faculty regularly conducts semester long structured courses, including BITS F462 Renewable Energy, EEE F473/INSTR F473 Wind Electrical Systems, EEE F424 Electric Power Utilization & Illumination, ME F424 Energy Management, and formal Project Courses, including Study, Lab, and Design Projects.
The core faculty maintains regular interactions with industry, vendor and alumni of the Institute, for exploring new areas for development.
Currently, the core faculty are conducting a research project entitled “Impacts of Variations in Climate and Field-performance of Grid Integrated Hybrid Energy Systems (Solar PV and Small Wind Turbine) installed on the Campus of BITS, Pilani K. K. Birla Goa Campus” since January, 2024. The project is sponsored by the BITS, Pilani University.
