FUNDED PROJECTS & LABORATORIES DEVELOPED

8) IPA (Indian Ports Association - Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways) grant File Number: IPA/ICTD/166/5GBITS/2024 has been approved for the project entitled as " Preparation of Road Map to Transform Major Ports to Port 4.0 leveraging Advanced Technologies (Rs. 11.80 Lakhs) [Approved] for 100 days. 
[Approved on 12th August 2024 and started from 13th August 2024 as a PI]  
 

7) SERB-CRG grant File Number: CRG/2022/005809 has been approved for the project entitled as "An Experimental and CFD-DEM Study of Spouted Fluidized Bed Heat Exchanger for Non-spherical Particles (Rs. 22.24 Lakhs [proposed] with 1 JRF/SRF) for 3 years. 
[Approved on 30th January 2023, started from 1st March 2023 for 3 years As a Co-PI]  

 

6) As HoD, involved in providing consultancy to conduct the lab sessions for UG students for various laboratories during 23rd to 27th May 2022 for NIT Goa at BITS Goa campus (for which NIT paid around Rs. 1.62 Lakhs to BITS), several COVID based small projects such as development and manufacturing of Sanitizer stands, Sanitizing machine for bags etc, and other small projects such as material testing on teeth material provided by dental student, material provided by IFB India etc.

[Completed in AY 2019- 2020, AY 2020-21, AY 2021-22]

 

 5) As HoD, I took initiative to to participate in BMW's skill next competition 2018. Received BMW Twin Power Turbo inline 4 Cylinder Diesel Engine with 8 Speed Steptronic Automatic Transmission System, Sponsored by: BMW (industry sponsored under BMW Skill Next Competition), Rs. 25 Lakhs in September 2018.

 4) DST-SERB grant has been sanctioned to develop the experimental facility at BITS Pilani - K K Birla Goa Campus. Received Grant from  DST Govt. of India (Rs. 27.66 Lakhs) for 3 years, completed in February 2019. One JRF/SRF position also has been sanctioned. Project entitled as "Computational and Experimental Investigations on Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer Characteristics of Two Phase Flow in Atmospheric Circulating Fluidized Bed Heat Exchanger with Novel Designs of Distributor Plate".

[Completed as PI - 2019]  

 

3) OPERA Award by BITS Pilani (with  worth Rs. 8.28 Lakhs for Research) in January 2015 and in May 2017.

2) ACG: Received BITS Additional Competitive Research Grant (Rs. 2.50 Lakhs) for 2 years on 4th August 2015 to perform the research work for the project entitled "Effect of Novel Design of Cyclone Separator on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Pressurized Circulating Fluidized Bed Heat Exchanger". (High Speed Computational Facility has been purchased).

1) RIG: BITS Research Initiation Grant  (Rs. 2 Lakhs), for 2 years [04/03/2014 to 03/03/2016].

"Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis of Two Phase Flow in Circulating Fluidized Bed".

 Laboratories Developed: 

(1) Fluidized Bed Laboratory (Heat exchanger),

(2) I C Engines Laboratory

(3) Microchannel and NanoFluid engg. Laboratory

(4) Solar Drying Laboratory 

 Multiphase Flow Laboratory has been developed to study the fluid dynamics and heat transfer characteristics of Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Boiler (heat exchanger) and of various micro-channels using nano-fluids.

 

Research Engine Set-up for Internal Combustion Engines

 

All required euipment to do deep research have been purchased. Equipment  such as High Speed Camera, Thermal Image Camera, Data Acquisition System with NI Labview Software, Pressure and Temperature Sensors, Blower, Compressor (15 bar capacity), Cooling Tower, High Speed Computational Facility (Two Servers) for CFD Simulation work using Ansys, Mathematica, coding work using C programing language. CFB heat exchanger set-up and micro-channel test rig have been designed and developed. Some of the photographs of the laboratory are as below.
