Prof. S. D. Manjare has been working in BITS Pilani since 1997. He has total 29 years of teaching and research experience. He is actively involved in teaching, research and administration. He has taught several Chemical Engineering courses like mass transfer operations, advanced separation processes, computational transport phenomenon, process design decisions, environmental pollution control, environmental management systems etc. Prof Manjare was a coordinator in designing and developing the programme in M. Tech. Environmental Engg for working professionals. This program content has been highly appreciated by the industries.
His research interest is in the areas of, environmental management systems separation processes, recovery of resources from waste materials and development of fillers for rubber compounds. He has completed/completing around 42research and consultancy projects in the said areas. He has been guiding/guided several undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students in the areas of separation processes, environmental management systems, recovery of resources from waste materials and filler development. Prof Manjare has published several research papers in international journals and conferences of repute.
He was the Associate Dean of Admissions division at Goa campus during 2014-2018. He was Professor in Charge, Research & Consultancy (Academic Research Division, ARD and Sponsored Research Division, SRD) and Educational Development Division (EDD) at BITS, Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus, Goa, during 2006 -2014. He was also a member of various committees such as Faculty Recruitment Committee, examination committee, Member of the cross campus faculty appraisal committee etc. Presently he is a member of departmental research committee, a member of Senate, departmental committee for academics, house allotment comittee etc. He was non residential warden, residential warden, and Professor in charge of Chemical Engg association at BITS Pilani, Rajasthan.
Prof Manjare has been advising several industries like Proctor & Gamble Goa, Deccan Fine Chemicals Ltd Goa, Zuari Agro Chemicals, Goa, Mormugaon Port Trust, Goa etc., on process systems engineering and environmental issues. He has conducted two workshops on environmental management systems for industries and related organizations. Presently he is a member of Technical Advisory Committee for Goa State Pollution Control Board. One of his prime achievements is that he has provided sustainable solution to minimize the air pollution due to handling of Cargos at Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) in the city of Vasco Da Gama, Goa. He has also provided sustainable solution to surface runoff and wastewater disposal problems in Zuari Agro Chemicals, Goa.
In addition to teaching and research, Prof. Manjare has been actively involved in the University administration in various capacities.
