Dr. Sayantani Sarkar is assistant professor at Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS- Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. She is a social scientist with PhD in Geography from University of Calcutta. Her research interests include contemporary urban policies in India , slum studies, urban gerontology, gender issues in urban areas and urban place making. Currently she is working on the role of urban planning in making cities more inclusive, for all sections of society.
Another significant focus of her research is to examine the cultural aspects of man- nature relation and to study its contribution in conservation of endangered ecosystems. She is working on the evaluation of cultural ecosystem services of water bodies and wetlands across Goa.
