Sonal Ayakar

Dr. Sonal Ayakar is a faculty member whose research and teaching focus on bioengineering and bioprocess technology. Dr. Ayakar holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada. 

Dr. Ayakar's research focuses on developing microbial fermentative bioprocesses for manufacturing active pharmaceutical ingredients, nutraceuticals, and fine chemicals;  and bioprocesses for waste management applications. She also works in medical diagnostic systems design based on human microbiomes for endocrine disorders. She is passionate about translating scientific discoveries into practical applications and collaborates frequently with industry partners to advance biotechnological innovations.

Dr. Ayakar is dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of bioengineers. She is known for her interactive and student-centered teaching approach.
