Yoshiro Azuma

Experimental Atomic and Molecular Physics

Introduction

Yoshiro Azuma, originally from Japan, obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics at the University of Oregon. He subsequently worked at the University of British Columbia, Argonne National Laboratory, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Sophia University, and IIT Delhi. He joined the physics department of BITS Pilani Goa Campus in August 2024.

He specializes in experimental atomic and molecular physics, particularly in gas phase photoionization studies utilizing synchrotron radiation. The recent research theme is “static and dynamic electron correlations in multi-electron photo-effects”.

His other interests include operatic singing, history, cultural anthropology (recently with focus on India), facilitation of international exchange, and special education (particularly for the visually impaired). He is also a dog lover.
