Dr. Chittaranjan Hota is a Senior Professor of Computer Science at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, with Thirty Five years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani. His research interests span Big-data Analytics, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning with over 150 publications and the supervision of more than 18 PhD students.
His current research focuses on secure Bio-Cyber-Physical Systems under India's National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, funded by DST, Govt. of India. He is also a Consultant to Mindmap consulting, Hyderabad in the area of Generative AI. He has led multiple research projects funded by Ministry of IT, Govt. of India; Dept. of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India; University Grants Commission, Govt. of India; Progress Software, India; Intel, India; Tata Consultancy Services, India; and NWO, Netherlands covering areas such as Network Threat Monitoring, Code Tamper-proofing, Smart Healthcare, and Cognitive IoT.
Dr. Hota currently holds the position of Professor In-Charge of BITSAT. He had held key academic administrative roles at BITS Pilani, including Associate Dean of Admissions, and founding Head of the Computer Science Department at BITS Hyderabad. He has played crucial roles in IT infrastructure development as the founding Faculty In-Charge of Information Processing Unit at BITS Hyderabad and leading the ERP roadmap of BITS Pilani as part of Vision 2020 initiative.
Dr. Hota’s global academic footprint includes visiting professorships and research collaborations at prestigious institutions such as the University of New South Wales (Australia), University of Cagliari (Italy), Aalto University (Finland), City University (UK), and Vrije University (Netherlands). His exceptional contributions have earned him accolades such as the Australian Vice Chancellors Award, two Erasmus Mundus Fellowships from the European Commission, and a Certificate of Excellence from BITS Pilani.
A Senior Member of IEEE and an active member of ACM, CSI, IE, and ISTE, Dr. Hota continues to drive innovation and excellence in computer science, making significant contributions to academia, research, and industry on both national and international stages.
