Prof. Geetha worked as the HoD, Dept of Computer Science and Information Systems from October 2020 to September 2022. Prof. Geetha joined the Dept. of Computer Science and Information Systems, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus in 2008. Prior to joining BITS, she worked as a faculty at the National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NITW). Prof. Geetha received Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Hyderabad. Her Ph.D. thesis was titled “Grid Computing Security through Access Control Modelling”.
Prof Geetha is a member of the Quantum Computing Interest Group at BITS Pilani which offers an avenue for both students and faculty who are keenly interested in the emerging field of quantum computing to convene and acquire knowledge about its various aspects. The group facilitates an environment that encourages collaboration among members and the pursuit of quantum computing projects.
Prof. Geetha is a core member of the design team of the country's first Center of Excellence (CoE) in Automotive Cyber Security to be launched as a collaboration between BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus and BOSCH. To be set up as part of the Telangana Mobility Valley (TMV) initiative of the Telangana State Govt., the CoE aims to achieve the upskilling and reskilling of the existing talent in the area of Automotive Cyber Security.
Prof. Geetha's present areas of research interests include: information security, cloud computing - cloud security challenges, IoT security concerns like RPL attacks and malware attacks, Blockchain Technology, Fog Computing Security and Automotive Cyber Security. Application of Block chain Technology for implementing security is another focus area of her research. Her publications have reached over 5000 reads and around 3000 citations in ResearchGate. Six Ph.D. students have graduated under her guidance. Prof. Geetha has done extensive research on the security and privacy aspects in Online Social Networks (OSNs) like: semantic attacks in OSNs and data privacy in online social networks. Prof. Geetha has many international publications (in reputed conferences and peer-reviewed journals) to her credit.
Prof. Geetha served as a Panel Expert for the 2nd Brainstorming Session on The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India initiated “e-Governance Standards and Guidelines (eGSG)” Project, 2022.
Prof. Geetha was an invited speaker at the Training Programme for experts from BIMSTEC Countries (Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand , Nepal and Bhutan), at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Hyderabad. The event was jointly organized by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India and CFSL, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.
Prof. Geetha gave an invited talk on "Embedded System Security" at the Defense Electronics Research Lab (DLRL), DRDO, Hyderabad on 12th December, 2018.
Prof. Geetha has successfully executed a funded project on Cloud Forensics sponsored by MeitY, Govt. of India and is also a Project Review Steering Group (PRSG) member for a DIT-funded project on Cloud Interoperability. She organized a Symposium on Cloud Computing and Digital Forensics (SoC-D 2015) on September 4, 2015 in BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. As part of the funded project on Cloud Forensics, Prof. Geetha organized a tech showcase event on January 30th, 2017 at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. Titled "Unveiling CFIT: Cloud Forensic Investigator Toolkit - A Technology Showcase", the event was aimed at bringing out the design and development aspects of CFIT.
Prof. Geetha is Senior Member IEEE.
Prof. Geetha has given many guest lectures and tutorial sessions on topics in emerging areas such as Internet of Things (IoT) security, cyber security, cloud computing and cloud security. She has been a member of the Technical Program Committees of various IEEE International Conferences. Prof. Geetha is a reviewer for many top-notch journals like Elsevier and Springer.
