Central Workshop

 

The Central Workshop provides training to students and caters to the maintenance & fabrication needs of the Institute. Through the course "Workshop Practice", all the first-degree students are trained to acquire the necessary skills related to various manufacturing processes like machining, casting, rapid prototyping (3D printing&3D scanning) & various trades like fitting, metrology, carpentry, smithy, foundry, sheet metal, welding, mechatronics etc. and two computer-oriented exercises, CNC Programming using CNC Simulation software (by CIMCO) and a Manufacturing Simulation software called FlexSim. Further, students of B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) are given in-depth training in various courses such as "Manufacturing Processes”, “Advanced Manufacturing Process”, "Computer-Aided Manufacturing" and for ME “Flexible Manufacturing Systems" & Machine Tool Engineering. Apart from routine maintenance and training, the workshop also provides fabrication services pertaining to the project works of students and also offers technical support for TBI works. The workshop comprises various labs and sections namely Computer Aided Manufacturing Lab(CAM), Advanced Machining Lab, Metal Forming Lab, Powder Metallurgy Lab, Additive Manufacturing Lab, Metrology Lab, Machine shop, Welding, Fitting, Smithy, Sheet Metal, Carpentry, Foundry and Mechatronics.   • 1 Deep Drawing Hydraulic Press(200T), 1 Three zone split furnace and ten 3d printers.

In addition to the existing equipment’s, during this academic year we going to procure :
1 Ultrasonic Rotary milling system ,1 Robotic welding cell,1 4th axis drive with rotary table, 1CNC router and 1 Fiber Laser CFL-500
