New Faculty Mentorship Program

Mentoring is a process by which a more senior person teaches, leads and models another person. The goals of the new faculty mentoring program are to support new faculty members at BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus; familiarize them with university expectations, practices and resources; maximize satisfaction, productivity, and retention; and increase solidarity and collegiality across campus.

The Program

• A new faculty member will be paired with a more senior, preferably tenured, faculty member.

• The two faculties are preferably but not necessarily from the same department.

• The Mentoring Program will work with/complement the New Faculty Induction Program.

• All new faculties will participate in the Mentoring Program.

• The new faculties will be assigned their mentors within 2 weeks of their joining at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.

• The structured relationship will last for at least two years.

• Mentors and mentees may meet as a group each term.

• Mentors will keep the specifics of conversations with mentees confidential from other faculty.
