About the Faculty
 
Prof. Prasant Kumar Pattnaik is currently an Associate Professor at department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus. He has ten years of teaching and twenty-three years of research experience. He joined BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus as an Assistant Professor in June 2012. Prior to  joining BITS he was a Research Associate at ECE department, IISc Bangalore where he had done his Ph.D in the areas of Optical MEMS. He had also worked at Tata Elxsi Ltd., Bangalore as a Specialist Design and Development where he had filed four Indian patents in the areas of Optical Networking, multimedia communication and embedded devices. His main research interests are in Photonic Integrated Circuits, Optical Communication, MEMS and MOEMS, Microfluidics and Photonic Devices for Sensors and Communication. He has published about 80 papers in national and international conferences and journals. He was recipient of the University Gold Medal both in M.Sc (Physics) and M.Tech (Applied Optics). He received the Outstanding Potential for Excellence in Research and Academics (OPERA) Award from BITS Pilani in 2015.
