A New Microscope to Map Cancer

We have recently undertaken an ambitious project to build the first microscope capable of scanning cancer tissue and map unforeseen information hidden in them. This aim is better diagnosis and treatment plans for each individual. This is a collaboration between the Science and Technologies facilitation Council, UK (https://www.ukri.org/councils/stfc/) and the Department of Atomic Energy, India. The team involves photonics, electronics and AI/ML researchers from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Hyderabad and BITS-Pilani Hyderabad, and also cancer pathologists from Tata Memorial Cancer Center in Mumbai. Our collaborators are microscopy researchers from STFC, Harwell, UK.  The Indian team is led by me (biophotonics.co.in). We plan to create three-dimensional ultraviolet images of the human cancer tissue samples, using three-photon excitation with femtosecond lasers. We are looking for a few bright young minds (as undergraduate trainees, or as graduate project fellows) to join the team! If interested please email me.
