BITS Pilani signs MoU with South Korea’s Dongguk University

Recently, the Dept. of Chemical Engineering of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus and Dept. of Biomedical Engineering of Dongguk University, South Korea signed a MoU for academic collaboration between the two institutions at BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus (22nd Jan 2024).

Prof. Srinivas Krishnaswamy, Head, Dept of Chemical Engineering, BITS Pilani Goa Campus and Prof. Seung Hoon Yang, Head, Dept of Biomedical Engineering, Dongguk University Seoul Campus signed the MoU. Prof. Jegatha Nambi Krishnan of BITS Pilani, Goa Campus and Prof. Jin-Sik Kim of Dongguk University will be the nodal coordinating officers for their respective organizations. Both have also signed as witnesses in this MoU.

Through this MoU, both institutions agree to enhance research and development (R&D) by cooperating in all fields of mutual interest such as teaching, research and continuous education. Within the framework of this MoU, possible activities and measures include (i) the exchange of information material and publications/ patents (ii) student exchange/ faculty exchange programme and practical training opportunities abroad (iii) Organizing workshops and conferences.

During the signing ceremony, the Director of BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, Prof. Suman Kundu remarked “BITS Pilani is synonymous with world-class education and research capabilities. We recognize the importance of research collaborations and believe that working with Department of Biomedical Engineering, Dongguk University would help our students get the best possible exposure to a wide range of research topics and faculty support. Our joint efforts within the community will establish a noteworthy forum for students to develop their abilities and gain knowledge from one another”. He opined, this partnership will raise the bar for students’ research skills in higher education and open the door to improved research and citation.

Others present during the MoU signing ceremony included Prof. Jin-Sik Kim on behalf of Dongguk University and Prof. Sanket Goel - University wide Dean, Research and Innovation at BITS Pilani, Prof. Shibu Clement - Associate Dean, Grants, Consultancy and Industrial Research (GCIR) Division, Prof. Jegatha Nambi Krishnan and Mr. Sailesh Narayan Mohanty, Joint Registrar all on behalf of BITS Pilani, K K Birla.
