Dr. Nishant Bhargav, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, was invited to deliver a special lecture on “Application of Microsurfacing for Rural Roads” as part of a prestigious training program organized by IIT Guwahati from February 17–21, 2025.
The session focused on the critical role of microsurfacing in enhancing the durability and performance of rural roads, particularly in challenging terrains prone to heavy rainfall, snowbound conditions, and freezing temperatures. Dr. Bhargav shared practical insights and case studies, emphasizing cost-effective maintenance strategies to improve the resilience of low-volume roads.
The program witnessed active participation from 38 rural road engineers representing over 12 states, fostering an engaging exchange of ideas on innovative road maintenance techniques. Dr. Bhargav’s talk was highly appreciated for its technical depth and real-world applicability, reinforcing the importance of advanced road maintenance solutions in ensuring sustainable and long-lasting rural infrastructure.
