Prof. Devika has been teaching at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani since 2001. She has served the institute as the Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (two consecutive terms); Faculty-in-charge of Institute Functions and Infant Care Centre; Convenor of Academic Counselling Cell; In-charge of Publication and Documentation Cell, Practice School; In-charge of Instruction Cell, Work Integrated Learning Programme; Non-resident Warden, Meera Bhavan; Editor of the HSS department magazine, Musing: an anthology of poems, short stories, one-act plays, and paintings; and members of various other committees at department and institute levels.

She was awarded her PhD in 2006 at BITS Pilani, for her dissertation titled Journey from Innocence to Experience: A Study of Feminist Fiction during 1970-2000. She was awarded her MPhil in 2002 at BITS Pilani. Her area of expertise is literary studies and she teaches courses on language, literature, and cinema.  She teaches undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students. She has to her credit notes written for courses like Technical Report Writing and English Language Skills. 

Her research articles are in the areas of literature, language, and cinema. She has 60 publications comprising book chapters and articles in international and national journals apart from 25 other publications. Her major research projects as principal investigator are funded by the UGC and the NCERT. As the Head, she secured funding of ₹ 3,00,000 from the ICSSR for an international conference held in Feb 2024. 

She has organised conferences/workshops/seminars/invited talks for administrators, teachers, students, and supporting staff in the areas of communication skills, nonverbal communication, group discussion, personality development, soft skills, job interviews, effective communication strategies, common errors in English, and teaching methodology. 

On an alternative note, she is a meditation practitioner.
