FinTech Ideathon


Life at Department of Management, BITS Pilani never ceases to amaze you when it comes to learning. On 18th of January 2020 it witnessed yet another day of bringing out individual creativity to use it for solving real life problems in banking sector through Ideathon, organized in coordination with aXess Labs India- a Standard Chartered Bank venture. Students got a chance to interact with Dr. Sebestian Wedeniwski, The Chief Officer, Technology Strategy at aXess, through Video conferencing. He shared his views on the future of Fintech and the role of students in contributing towards it in near future. He also clarified a few questions of the students. Then the contestants presented their ideas in teams. Mr. Karthik Ramesh, the Vice President of aXess Labs and his team evaluated the ideas coming from students. Mr. Karthik shared his valuable feedback and recommendations to shape these ideas into real life solutions and also gave students insights of new areas to venture into in the field of Fintech.

Workshop on Lean Six Sigma


The ILC club was honoured to have Mr. Rohit Khullar from KPMG, who conducted the “Lean Six Sigma Green Belt” workshop. It started on 24th Jan and went on till 27th Jan. The participants included both first degree and higher degree students. The 32 hour interactive program introduced students to various concepts related to six sigma. Students also got an opportunity to learn Minitab through a hands-on approach. The highly engaging workshop helped to clear doubts raised by students and challenged them to think differently.

Guest Lecture - Mr. Coumara Radja


The Department of Management BITS, Pilani had the honour of arrnaing a guest lecture by Mr. Coumara Radja, President – Global Business at ZCL (earlier Zandu Pharma) on the 14th of September.

Mr. Radja took two sessions on topics “Career on a Fast-Track” and “International Market-Entry Strategies”. He provided insights to students on the qualities that a successful person should possess. He elaborated how he travelled to around 25 countries like Cuba, Russia, and Uzbekistan etc in a year to gain direct experience in International Market Entry Evaluation. The discussion ranged from the top 10 global consumer trends to top global risks in terms of impact and likelihood.

It was a very informative lecture and we thanks Mr. Radja for sharing his experiences and making the lecture very insightful.

Guest Lecture - Mr. Rahul Kohli


We, the Department of Management BITS Pilani, are proud to have a guest lecture by Mr. Rahul Kohli, Chief Executive Officer (Fertilizer Business) at Aditya Birla Group and Adviser for Higher Education to Chancellor, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla. It was a great learning experience for both the MBA batches as Mr. Kohli shared his life experiences with them. The lecture was very informative and guided students to first know what they want to do in their lives, how to utilize opportunities for a path to success as everything is in their hands.

We thank Mr. Kohli for his time and for being a guiding light to all the students.

Guest Lecture - Mr. Rajiv Gupta

The Department of Management invited Dr. Rajiv Gupta, currently working as an Adjunct Professor in the Work Integrated Learning Program at BITS Pilani, to take a session for our MBA Students (both batches) .The Topic of the session was “Would You Believe Me If I Told You That Cigar And Pipe Smoking Does Not Negatively Affect Longevity? - A Matter of Interpreting the Data”

The students got the golden opportunity to learn that with the amount of data being generated on a regular basis, they need a way to understand how to read the data correctly. This is important for professional managers as their decisions are dependent on their ability to understand data and make predictions based on it. Mr. Gupta discussed some common mistakes people make when considering data that can lead to chaotic decision making.

It was a pleasure listening to Mr Rajiv Gupta. This informative lecture would surely help the students in the long run.

Guest Lecture - Akash Agarwal


As part of our pedagogy, we believe in keeping our students updated with the recent industry standards. On these lines, the Department of Management invited an eminent guest, Mr. Akash Agrawal, to deliver a session on Creating Sustainable Competitive Advantage.

Mr. Akash Agarwal has previously worked in Sony, Nike, and Walmart at senior leadership positions for the past 20 years. He is currently working as a Management Consultant with Nexus Angels Consulting.

The session provided useful insights to students on how market leaders create advantage and sustain success over time in their line of business. The Department of Management, BITS Pilani would like to thank Mr. Akash Agarwal for sharing his knowledge and experience with our students.

Freshers’ Day


Freshers 2019 marked by jovial smiles and indelible performances. We witnessed students showcasing their flair through a series of impressive performances. Both the batches bonded closely with each other and flashing lights with foot tapping music augmented the excitement level. We welcome all the newcomers to the BITSian family and congratulate them on putting up an eventful evening.

R Workshop


Industry Linkage Club has successfully conducted Certified Business Analytics Practitioner (CBAP) Training Workshop in association with Henry Harvin Education from 30th August 2019 to 2nd September 2019.

The basic objective of conducting training in analytics was to set the students to enhance their knowledge and skills, bringing out the best of their abilities and increase job adroitness.

To achieve this, Industry Linkage Club with assistance of the Placement Committee, endeavoured to provide the students with this facility. As a competency and career development organization, Henry Harvin Education develops, enhances and promotes select skill-sets those are deemed essential of changing times. Henry Harvin made this possible with good and experienced industry professionals who are skilled at training through live examples and activities making the workshop more intuitive. The course had varied learning benefits such as solving business problems using Analytical tools such as R & Advanced Excel, Developing Goal Oriented Business Strategies, Taking Actionable Data-Driven Decisions to increase market share and more.

Overall it proved to be a good learning experience with students from various domains coming together and stepping their foot in analytics and propelled to become successful professionals in the industry.

Teachers Day

Teachers’ day celebrations at DOM BITS Pilani presented the students an opportunity to showcase the importance that their gurus have in their life. Here are a few glimpses of the occasion.

ICEBM 2019

The third edition of International Conference on Evidence Based Management (ICEBM) was organized by the Department of Management in 2019 in its BITS Pilani, Pilani campus. This edition conference aims at welcoming all the researchers, faculty and industry professionals in the field of evidence based decision making. Research papers as well as case studies are specially sought from the following industry verticals: Manufacturing, Health, IT/ITES, Banking and Finance & Education. Researchers were encouraged to submit their extended abstract for presentation in the conference, which facilitated deliberations of the above mentioned industry verticals.

Workshop on Research Methodology

A two-day workshop has been organized jointly by Departments of Humanities and Social Sciences, Economics & Finance, and Management on Feb 23-24 2019. The workshop is specially designed for research scholars and faculty members of various departments of BITS Pilani. Nine faculty members of the aforementioned three departments and Dr. Vibha Arora from IIT Delhi contributed as resource persons in this workshop. The workshop focused on quantitative and qualitative techniques used in research, with special emphasis on social sciences.

Workshop on Negotiation Skills


We, on behalf of the Department of Management would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Shikha Sahai for conducting a workshop on Negotiation Skills from 18th February to 24th February 2019. Dr. Shikha Sahai is an experienced Human Resources Professional who has a demonstrated history of working in HR operation, Training, Consulting, Teaching and Research. She is skilled in Coaching, Program Evaluation, Diversity Training, Team Building, and Public Speaking. Thank you mam, for instilling within us the importance of negotiation and for answering our mindful queries with utmost engrossment.

Soft Skill Workshop


We, on behalf of the Department of Management would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Subhashish Roy for conducting the Soft Skills workshop from 15th February to 17th February 2019. Mr. Subhashish Roy is a Performance Facilitator, Speaker and a Leadership Coach. He has had 29+ years of experience in the Corporate Sector in Senior & Top Management positions with organizations in Insurance, Financial Services, Mutual Funds, Pharma, Media, Software & Skill Development Sector and is a BITS Alumnus. Thank you sir, for imbibing within us the valuable lessons of leadership and helping us on how to face interviews tactfully.

Annual Farewell Tradition


Before ending this beautiful journey with you, lets not leave a moment to create some more memories. Lets make this adieu a moment that we carry with us for life. In line with the annual tradition, a cricket match was organized between the seniors and juniors of MBA batch.
