Praveen Kumar completed his B.Sc. degree in Electronics from M.E.S College, M.G. University, Kerala in 2000 and his M.Sc. degree in Electronics Science with Microwave specialization from Dept.of Electronics, Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT), Kerala in 2003. He was awarded K.G. Nair endowment medal for coming first in the M.Sc. examination. He qualified GATE-2003 and 2004. Praveen received research fellowship from Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), and joined as a JRF in Dept. of Electronics, CUSAT in 2004. He was awarded PhD in 2009 in the area of Microwave Electronics. Dr. Praveen's thesis is titled 'Development of a Novel Wideband Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna'.
 
From February 2008 to August 2013 Dr. Praveen was with the Engineering Dept., Lancaster University, UK as a  Post-doctoral Research Associate. There he worked on the design of particle accelerators in close collaboration with national and international labs (The Cockcroft Institute (UK), CERN (Geneva), SLAC (USA) and UK Industries like Rapiscan, e2v,  Shakespeare Engineering and TechX UK). He also did some teaching assistance for B.Eng at Lancaster University. He presented his works at various conferences and workshops and published several journal papers. He joined the EEE department, BITS Pilani as Assistant Professor on 02/09/2013, and from 01/06/2021, he has been serving as Associate Professor.
