Dr. Shashank Gupta is a Senior Member, IEEE and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Information Systems (CSIS), Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, Pilani Campus since 2017. He is also an Applied AI faculty in Anuradha and Prashanth Palakurthi Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (APPCAIR). He received his PhD from National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, Haryana in 2017, M.Tech. (CSE) from Central University of Rajasthan in 2012 and B.E (IT) from University of Pune in 2009.
His research interests lie in various domains of computer systems including interdisciplinary cyber-physical systems (involving vehicular systems and structural health monitoring systems), edge-cloud systems, IoT healthcare systems and AI/ML in privacy and security. Currently, he is working on two interdisciplinary cyber-physical system projects (related to computer vision in Intelligent Vehicles and Structural health monitoring systems) sponsored by IIT Indore DRISHTI CPS FOUNDATION and IDAPT Hub Foundation, IIT BHU.
Prior to this, he has secured the funding from ARTPARK, IISc, Bengaluru and Data Security Council of India, NASSCOM) that focusses on the projects related to computer vision in autonomous driving and development of a Deep Learning-Based Intrusion Detection System for Defending HTML5 Web Applications against Code Injection Attacks respectively. In addition, he is a part of program/review committee of various top-tier conferences, transactions and journals, and also served as PI/Co-PI for numerous sponsored research grants. He has also filed a few patents related to web security.
Opportunity for Students: If any student/intern aspires to conduct high-quality research can email me for Thesis/SOP/DOP/LOP/RP/SAT and do explore working with my group on the following research strands:
Availability of the specific projects will be discussed in person in his office. If you are applying for the projects/thesis, do specify the area of interest, programming skills (specifically in Python and MATLAB), familiarity with the use of software/hardware (Pandas, TensorFlow, Keras, Torch, etc.), courses, or projects completed relevant to the area. Please note that you must have good programming skills and you are also expected to write a manuscript with me (and not just code!).
