Brief Profile
Prof. Suresh Gupta completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering in year 2000 from Ujjain Engineering College, Ujjain and M.Tech. degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in year 2002. After M.Tech., he joined Department of Chemical Engineering, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus as a Lecturer in year 2002. Subsequently, he completed his Ph.D. in the area of Environmental Engineering from BITS Pilani in the year 2008. He became Assistant Professor in August 2008, Associate Professor in February 2015 and Professor in June 2021. He served as Head of the Department from September 2012 to August 2016. He served as Associate Dean, Academic - Undergraduate Studies Division (AUGSD), BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus from August 2018 to August 2022. He has a total of 22 years of teaching and research experience as of the year 2024. Prof Gupta is recipient of DST Young Scientist Project awarded to him by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi, India during 2013 to 2017. He has successfully implemented several research projects in the field of Environmental Engineering, funded by DST-SERB, UGC, Birla Cellulosic Kharach, BITS Pilani, and Aditya Birla Science & Technology Company Pvt. Ltd. (ABSTCPL). He has published 59 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, 10 book chapters, and 76 conference proceedings. He guided 8 Ph.D. (as supervisor/co-supervisor) and 22 M.E. Dissertation students. Prof Gupta is involved in various academic and administrative committees at BITS-Pilani and other institutes/organizations. In addition, he has presented papers and delivered lectures in several National & International conferences and organizations. The current ongoing research work in his lab focuses on wastewater treatment; myco-remediation of industrial waste water; bio-mitigation of flue gases from industrial streams, modeling and simulation of Chemical Processes.
